Modern Vision Movement Affiliate (Ecuador)

Modern Vision Movement is the project of Ryan Sandberg, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu blackbelt from Alberta, Canada. Ryan has extensive BJJ, Thai boxing, and wrestling experience and has progressive methods and techniques for teaching and training Brazilian jiu jitsu and mixed martial arts in general. The students and instructors at the Matuto Brazilian jiu jitsu club and the Lucky Strike MMA club are proud to have Ryan at the helm of our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA programs and we are committed to upholding his high standards.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Brazilian jiu jitsu is the "gentle art" of grappling and fighting on the ground. It uses leverage, efficient body movement, focused strength and bursts of speed to control and then eventually immobilize an opponent or attacker with an almost infinite amount of different types of chokes, joint locks, and other techniques for controlling or escaping a combat or self defense situation on the ground. It is low impact compared to MMA or other martial arts that allow striking and when practiced in a safe and respectful atmosphere it is safe for most ages and body types. We offer a flexible schedule, classes for kids, women only and beginners only. We take safety and injury prevention very seriously and any bad attitudes, big egos, or reckless aggressive behavior is definitely not allowed. All of Kinetico's programs are a safe space for all.

MMA | Striking | Self Defense

Our striking and MMA program covers traditional standup fighting techniques with kickboxing, Thai boxing, and karate influences. Mixed martial arts classes are included in both the BJJ program and the striking program or can be taken separately. Essentially MMA brings everything together and is the study of full contact fighting and self defense that incorporates, striking, wrestling and Brazilian jiu jitsu. Our MMA classes cover self defense scenarios, striking with takedowns and grappling and basic wrestling for takedowns and takedown defense. For safety and brain health we only do low impact technical sparring with no heavy head shots allowed. Everyone training in any of our martial arts programs should feel safe and welcome to participate without worrying about being injured, intimidated, or uncomfortable.

but are you functional?

Functional Fitness Program

Along with our martial arts programs we also offer a functional fitness conditioning program. We use various conditioning drills, isometrics, and traditional bodyweight exercises derived from martial arts and ancient military training. We also incorporate primal animal movements, and other alternative training methods that focus on increasing a person's ability to complete functional movements and tasks rather than focusing on less efficient exercises that just focus on burning fat or building unnecessary muscle in one area using isolated movements that don't improve mobility, balance, coordination and real life skills and abilities. Functional fitness helps to keep people's bodies moving optimally through all the phases of their life so they can enjoy life to the fullest rather than missing out on things that they could be doing or they used to be able to do but their body is no longer capable.

AND IT'S FUN!

Functional Fitness Program

Our functional fitness conditioning program is incorporated into our martial arts programs as the conditioning part of our martial arts training however people are free to only do the functional fitness classes and not participate in the actual martial arts training. Come join us and be prepared to work hard and have some fun sweating along with some new friends!

Fitness Progress Testing

We also have accurate, professional quality fitness testing equipment to measure our client's and student's progress over time. This exposes areas of strength, and weakness and shows people what they should be working on based on functional fitness metrics. The regular testing for our members is every 6 weeks but private consultations are also available.

Do I need to book classes in advance?

While advanced booking is recommended to ensure your spot, walk-ins are welcome based on availability. We are a small boutique fitness facility so space is limited for our in-house programs. If we have the space we will welcome anyone to join our programs so please don't hesitate to come in or send us a message and we will be happy to get back to you promptly about the current attendance status of each class scheduled.

Are your bodywork services suitable for injuries?

For the most part Yes, our therapeutic bodywork services are designed to help you recover from injuries and improve overall well-being. However not all injuries are the same and if you have a serious injury or ailment you should speak to an appropriate doctor before implementing any type of treatment plan. We also have a rotating practitioner system so we may not always offer services pertaining to your specific injury or ailment.

Do I need to sign a contract?
